Katie Gerber


 

Katie Gerber has extensive experience advising nonprofit clients, including public charities, private foundations, social welfare organizations, business leagues, political action committees, and social clubs. Her areas of expertise in the nonprofit sector include formation and corporate governance matters, applying for and maintaining tax-exemption, minimizing unrelated business taxable income, navigating the excise tax provisions applicable to tax-exempt organizations under the Internal Revenue Code, international grant-making, program-related investments, and advising on self-dealing issues. Katie also has deep experience advising on fiscal sponsorship arrangements and structuring joint ventures with for-profit entities. Katie earned her J.D. from Temple University Beasley School of Law and her LLM in taxation from New York University School of Law. She is admitted to practice in New York, California, and Texas.
